This volcanic island is most searched Vietnamese destination this summer

Ly Son Island, off the coast of Quang Ngai Province, has emerged as Vietnam’s most searched domestic destination for summer 2026, according to a recent report by travel platform Agoda. The ranking was based on accommodation searches made between January 1 and April 30, 2026, for stays from June 1 to July 31, compared with the same period last year.

Often described as one of Vietnam’s quieter island escapes, Ly Son is gaining attention for its crystal-clear waters, dramatic volcanic landscapes, coral reefs, and slower pace of life. Agoda noted that the island is increasingly appealing to travellers seeking alternatives to more crowded coastal destinations such as Phu Quoc, Phu Quy, and Vinh Hy.

Located around 30 kilometres off the coast of Quang Ngai, Ly Son is well known for its garlic farms and pristine beaches surrounded by coral reefs. Covering approximately 10 square kilometres, the island district is often referred to as Vietnam’s “kingdom of garlic and onions” and remains one of the country’s few volcanic islands.

Ly Son consists of three islands: Dao Lon (Big Island), also known as Cu Lao Re; Dao Be (Small Island), or An Binh Island; and the uninhabited Mu Cu Islet. The best time to visit is typically from April to August, when sunny weather and calm seas create ideal conditions for island exploration.

Other destinations featured among Agoda’s most searched summer locations include Ninh Binh, Mai Chau, Mang Den, and Tay Ninh.
