[VNExpress] Phu Quoc Island is the most favorite domestic tourist destination this year followed by mountain towns Da Lat and Sa Pa, a survey has found.
Of the 10,717 people polled by VnExpress, the Tourism Advisory Board and the Private Economic Development Research Board in December, 30.4 percent said they planned to visit Phu Quoc this year.
The island reopened to domestic tourists on November 1 but complies with all Covid-19 safety requirements like vaccination and tests.
Da Lat, a resort town famous for its year-round cool weather in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, was second.
The province currently requires no quarantine for domestic tourists except for those arriving from red zones (very high Covid risk areas) but again strictly enforces safety protocols.
Sa Pa town in Lao Cai Province, around 300 kilometers from Hanoi, was in third place.
Lao Cai requires visitors from red-zones to quarantine at home or other places of accommodation for seven days.
Da Nang City, home to the Golden Bridge and My Khe Beach, was fourth in the list.
Visitors need to furnish a certificate proving they are fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid.
Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh, famous for its limestone karst amid emerald-green waters, was in fifth.
Quang Ninh only allows in tourists from green and yellow zones meaning low and medium risk levels.
Nha Trang, the popular beach resort town in the central province of Khanh Hoa, ranked sixth.
Khanh Hoa requires no quarantine or testing for fully-immunized domestic visitors.
Situated around 300 kilometers (186 miles) north of Hanoi on the China border, Ha Giang has become an increasingly popular destination not just for its spectacular scenery but also narrow, twisting roads and mountain passes that kindle the spirit of adventure.
It allows visitors from orange or red zones but requires them to be fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid and furnish a negative test result.
The town does not require immunized visitors to quarantine though those coming from very high risk or locked-down areas need to furnish a negative Covid test result.
The island off the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau reopened to domestic tourists last October after commercial flights were restarted.
Tourists need to be fully vaccinated or have recovered from the disease and are required to book a tour package with travel agencies.
Rounding off the top 10 was Mui Ne, a resort town in the south-central province of Binh Thuan, famous for its old fishing villages.
