Global Hotel Groups Continue to Expand Their Presence Across Vietnam

Recent months have brought a steady stream of announcements from some of the world’s largest hotel groups, each unveiling new projects that will add thousands of rooms to Vietnam’s hospitality landscape. While every partnership has its own focus, together they reflect continued investment in the country and a growing range of international brands across both established and emerging destinations.

The latest announcement comes from Accor and Sun Group, which recently signed a strategic portfolio agreement to develop more than 5,300 hotel keys over the next five years. The projects will span destinations including Phu Quoc and Da Nang, introducing several brands to Vietnam for the first time. These include SO/, Sofitel Serviced Residences, Swissôtel Living and TRIBE, while existing brands such as MGallery, Grand Mercure and ibis Styles will further expand their presence. The agreement covers hotels, resorts and serviced residences, reflecting a broad approach to future hospitality development.

The initial portfolio announced under the agreement includes:

  • Bana Hills Hotel Danang – MGallery Collection – 250 keys
  • Ruby Beach Hotel – MGallery Collection – 180 keys

Accor’s announcement is followed by another major collaboration between Sun Group and Marriott International earlier this year. The partnership will see the development of nearly 4,500 rooms across 10 hotels in Phu Quoc and Vung Tau, representingeight Marriott brands. Alongside well-established names such as JW Marriott, The Luxury Collection, Courtyard by Marriott and Four Points by Sheraton, the agreement will also introduce W Hotels and Moxy Hotels to Vietnam for the first time. Rather than focusing on a single property, the portfolio brings together luxury, premium and select-service brands within one long-term development plan.

The first properties are expected to open in 2026, with the remaining developments scheduled to open in phases through 2030.

  • Moxy Phu Quoc Hon Thom – 501 keys
  • Fairfield by Marriott Phu Quoc Hon Thom – 353 keys

  • Le Méridien Phu Quoc – 432 keys
  • Courtyard by Marriott Phu Quoc – 300 keys

Ho Chi Minh City’s Can Gio is also becoming the focus of several new hospitality developments. In April, IHG Hotels & Resorts partnered with Vinhomes Green Paradise to introduce four hotel brands to the coastal project. The agreement includes more than 1,000 rooms across InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express and Garner. Holiday Inn Express and Garner will both make their Vietnam debut through the development, with the first properties expected to open from 2028.

The announced portfolio includes:

  • InterContinental Saigon Can Gio – 400 rooms
  • Crowne Plaza Saigon Can Gio – 400 rooms
  • Holiday Inn Express Saigon Can Gio – 130 rooms
  • Garner Hotel Saigon Can Gio – 130 rooms

Just days later, Vinhomes Green Paradise announced another partnership, this time with Marriott International. The project will introduce The Ritz-Carlton and Marriott Hotel to Can Gio, adding around 700 rooms and resort villas to the destination. Together with the earlier IHG agreement, the development is set to welcome a collection of internationally recognised hotel brands within a single master-planned project.

Taken together, these recent announcements paint a clear picture of the pace of hospitality development taking place across Vietnam. Beyond the growing number of hotel keys, they also highlight a wider mix of brands entering the market, from luxury resorts and lifestyle hotels to serviced residences and select-service concepts. As international operators continue to strengthen partnerships with local developers, travellers can expect an increasingly diverse range of accommodation options across Vietnam in the years ahead.
