Da Nang International Airport’s international terminal has retained its five-star Skytrax rating for the third year, thanks to improvements in efficiency and digital services. Despite exceeding its capacity with over 6.8 million passengers in 2025, an expansion project aims to boost capacity to six million, enhancing service quality amid rising demand.
The international terminal at Da Nang International Airport has retained its five-star rating from global aviation authority Skytrax for the third consecutive year, supported by improvements in operational efficiency and digital transformation.
In its March 2026 assessment, Skytrax noted that the rating is based on independent evaluations of facilities and service quality. Despite operating beyond its designed capacity, the terminal continues to maintain high standards across key areas, including terminal space, waiting areas, cleanliness, passenger information systems, service amenities, and overall digital experience.
Operational efficiency has seen notable gains, driven by the addition of processing lanes during peak hours, helping to ease congestion amid rising international passenger traffic. Enhancements in digital touchpoints, particularly in check-in and real-time information systems, have also contributed to sustained performance in core service categories.
Non-aviation services, including cleanliness, signage, and waiting areas, have continued to receive positive feedback from passengers.
However, growing demand is placing increasing pressure on the terminal. In 2025, it handled more than 6.8 million passengers, significantly exceeding its designed annual capacity of four million.
To address this, the Da Nang International Airport Investment and Operation Company is undertaking an expansion project to raise capacity to six million passengers. The upgrade focuses on enlarging waiting areas and optimizing service touchpoints to maintain service quality as demand continues to grow.
“The expansion is a strategic step to ease infrastructure pressure and meet rising passenger expectations,” said Do Trong Hau, Deputy General Director of the company.
