In 2025, Phu Quoc Island, recognized as Asia’s most beautiful island, attracted 8.1 million visitors and generated VND44 trillion in tourism revenue. Notably, it welcomed Vietnam’s 20-millionth international visitor and launched a direct flight from New Delhi. Phu Quoc’s appeal among high-end travelers grew, earning five awards at the World Travel Awards.
Phu Quoc Island, named Asia’s most beautiful island by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, welcomed an estimated 8.1 million visitors in 2025, exceeding its original target of 7.25 million. Tourism revenue reached VND44 trillion (US$1.67 billion), with international arrivals totaling around 1.8 million – well above the initial goal of 1.2 million and up significantly from 960,000 in 2024.
The island played a symbolic role in Vietnam’s tourism resurgence in mid-December, when it welcomed the country’s 20-millionth international visitor, marking a historic first in Vietnam’s 65-year tourism history.

Phu Quoc’s growing global connectivity was further highlighted on December 10, when the first direct flight from New Delhi landed at Phu Quoc International Airport with 180 Indian passengers. The route, part of eight round-trip direct services launched within a month by Vietravel, MakeMyTrip, and Air India, is expected to strengthen access to India, one of Vietnam’s fastest-growing tourism markets.
According to Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, Chairman of the An Giang Tourism Association, international arrivals surged in the final months of the year, with visitors coming from Russia, Europe, Australia, the United States, South Korea, Malaysia, and India. Beyond traditional family travelers and winter sun seekers, Phu Quoc is increasingly attracting high-end segments, including Middle Eastern visitors and ultra-high-net-worth travelers from India, who tend to stay longer and spend more on premium services.
Phu Quoc’s international reputation was further reinforced in 2025 when it won five honors at the World Travel Awards. Most notably, the island was named “World’s Leading Nature Island Destination” for the fourth consecutive year, cementing its status as a standout destination on the global tourism map.
