Connecting Sacred Destinations in the Age of AI: A Journey from Nha Trang to Boston

As artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes the modern world, global tourism is entering a new era of transformation. AI enables travelers to personalize journeys, explore heritage sites through virtual reality, and experience sacred destinations in digital spaces. At the same time, technology is empowering nations to preserve cultural and natural heritage, manage sustainable tourism, and foster meaningful global connection.

Sacred Spaces: Where Humanity Meets Heritage

Throughout history, humans have sought sacred places – mountains, rivers, ancient cities, forests, and temples – that touch the deepest layers of the soul. These are the spaces where collective memory is preserved, reflection is inspired, and humanity reconnects with nature, spirituality, and the self.

In this context, linking Vietnam’s spiritual, cultural, and natural destinations with the world not only opens doors for international cooperation but also shapes a new, humanistic model of tourism in the age of AI – one where technology serves humanity and amplifies its most profound values.

Boston Global Forum and the AI World Society Initiative

The Boston Global Forum (BGF), through its AI World Society (AIWS) initiative, has introduced a human-centered framework for the AI age – where humans act not as passive users of technology but as moral leaders guiding AI with compassion, intellect, and empathy.

A key vision of AIWS is to connect the world’s sacred and cultural landmarks into a global spiritual network – a foundation of wisdom and unity for future societies.

As part of this initiative, BGF aims to link iconic destinations such as Varanasi (India); Ha Long Bay, Nha Trang, Hoi An, and Da Lat (Vietnam); and America’s most cherished national parks – the Grand Canyon, Zion, Acadia, Yellowstone – alongside Boston, a city synonymous with intellectual heritage and global dialogue.

Nha Trang and Boston: East Meets West in Spirit and Intellect

In May 2024, during a special ceremony at Harvard University, BGF Co-founder Governor Michael Dukakis presented Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh, then Party Secretary of Khanh Hoa Province, with a symbolic photograph depicting Harvard’s Baker Library beside Hon Chong Rocks in Nha Trang.

This image represents more than artistic symbolism – it embodies the enduring friendship between Nha Trang and Boston, two coastal cities united by their shared love for nature, knowledge, and peace. The photograph serves as a symbolic key, unlocking a new chapter of cultural and spiritual collaboration between Vietnam and the United States in the AI era – through film, education, and shared human values.

Commemorating 30 Years of Vietnam–U.S. Partnership

To celebrate three decades of diplomatic normalization (1995–2025), the Boston Global Forum released a special publication titled “AI World Society – 30 Years of the U.S.–Vietnam Partnership: From Nha Trang to Boston (1995–2025)”, co-authored by Professor Thomas E. Patterson (Harvard University) and Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, BGF CEO and Co-Chair, with a foreword by Governor Michael S. Dukakis.

The book highlights the vision of AI World Society – a civilization that embraces technology while preserving human dignity, creativity, and shared spiritual values.

From Sacredness to Innovation: Building a Future with Soul

Landmarks such as Varanasi (India), Ha Long – Nha Trang – Da Lat – Hoi An (Vietnam), and the Grand Canyon – Yellowstone – Zion – Acadia – Boston (United States) are envisioned to transcend their roles as tourist destinations and become spiritual convergence points on the AIWS global map.

Powered by AI’s ability to digitize, analyze, and connect across dimensions, these sacred sites will reach global audiences like never before. Future travelers may:

  • Join a sacred ritual in Varanasi through immersive technology;
  • Watch the sunrise over Po Nagar Towers in Nha Trang;
  • Hear music echo across Yellowstone’s canyons;
  • Or experience a soul-stirring lecture at Harvard University.

Through symbolic gestures – like the Nha Trang – Boston photograph, the 30-year Vietnam – U.S. partnership publication, and the AIWS network of sacred landmarks – the Boston Global Forum is charting a visionary path toward an AI World Society with soul, memory, and spiritual depth – where technology serves compassion, enlightenment, and lasting peace.
