Da Nang looks toward broader international exchanges

On June 14, 2024, Da Nang’s Centre for International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Services (CIFA) signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with partners from the Republic of Korea (RoK), Singapore, and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. These agreements focus on cooperation for hosting international events, cultural exchanges, and promoting investment and tourism in the city.

Tran Chi Cuong, vice chairman of the municipal people’s committee, emphasized that the CIFA aims to assist international organizations and businesses in Da Nang, as well as the central and Central Highlands regions. This will help Da Nang expand its global activities and strengthen relationships with international partners and friends.

Following the signing of the MoUs, the CIFA will work in co-operation with Pax I&D company of the RoK, Sporting Insight Asia of Singapore, and the Japanese businesses community in central Vietnam to launch a broad array of cultural and tourism events which will serve to highlight investment opportunities, as well as international exchange programs.

Da Nang has opened liaison offices in Tokyo and Yokohama to enhance tourism, trade, and investment, while Russia, Laos, China, Japan, and the RoK have also opened general consulate offices in the central city.

Da Nang has recently expanded its international connectivity with the opening of new joint visa application centers for Belgium, Germany, and Italy, as well as for the UK and Australia. Additionally, honorary consul offices for Spain and Poland have been established in the city, enhancing diplomatic relations and services.

In further strides towards global integration, the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) has established a presence in Da Nang, underscoring the city’s attractiveness for international business and investment. Concurrently, the RoK’s Trade-Investment Promotion Agency has been actively fostering economic ties between South Korea and Da Nang.

Following its successful hosting of the APEC event in 2017, Da Nang has solidified its reputation as a premier international destination. The city has been increasingly favored for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE), as well as for golf tournaments and wedding exhibitions, highlighting its appeal for diverse international activities and events.
