Vietnam has recently been recognized as one of the top three destinations for solo female travelers due to its safety, hospitality, and rich culture. The country’s appeal stems from positive travel experiences, activities like cooking classes, and scenic nature excursions, while global interest in solo female travel continues to rise significantly.
Vietnam has been ranked among the top three destinations for solo female travelers, recognized for its safety, hospitality, and cultural richness, according to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Published on March 28, the list draws on data from the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Index and the Global Peace Index between 2023 and 2025, alongside traveler surveys conducted this year. Insights from solo female travelers were also incorporated to assess safety, accessibility, and overall travel experience.

The recognition reflects a broader global trend, as solo female travel continues to rise, particularly among older women who are increasingly choosing to travel independently. Global searches for “solo travel for women” have grown by 30 percent over the past five years.
In Vietnam, solo female travelers frequently highlight the country’s sense of safety and the warmth of everyday interactions. Many describe feeling at ease exploring independently, with experts recommending activities such as cooking classes and food tours as accessible entry points into local culture. Homestays and stays with local families are also encouraged to deepen cultural understanding.
Nature-driven experiences further enhance Vietnam’s appeal. The northern highlands attract visitors for trekking and village exploration, while the Mekong Delta offers immersive river-based experiences often described as both safe and meaningful.
Costa Rica ranks first on the list, followed by Vietnam in the top tier, alongside destinations such as Estonia, Uruguay, and Norway – all recognized for their strong performance in safety, gender equality, and overall travel experience.

Vietnam’s growing reputation in this segment is further supported by multiple international rankings. In 2024, it was the only Southeast Asian country featured in Time Out’s list of the nine safest destinations for solo female travelers, while Best Diplomat ranked it eighth safest in Asia. Travel Off Path also named Vietnam the safest destination in Asia in the same year, and Gallup’s Global Law and Order Index placed it among the most peaceful countries in the region, ranking seventh globally in 2023.
