Hanoi Metro has fully installed its electronic ticketing system on both operational lines, improving urban transit efficiency. With 85 percent of passengers using biometric verification, the system has led to a 48 percent revenue increase and a 15 percent rise in ridership. Future expansion and integration with national rail are planned.
Hanoi Metro has completed the installation of its electronic ticketing system across all ticket gates on both operational lines, marking a significant step toward a more integrated and efficient urban transit experience.
The system, which incorporates electronic identification, authentication, and biometric recognition, was implemented under a plan issued in July 2025. It was first piloted on the Cat Linh-Ha Dong line before being expanded to the Nhon-Hanoi Railway Station line.

According to Hanoi Metro, approximately 85 percent of passengers are now using electronic identification and biometric verification. The adoption has contributed to a 48 percent increase in revenue and a 15 percent rise in ridership compared to the same period.
Le Bang A, Chief Executive of Hanoi Metro, noted that the system enables multiple cashless payment options, reduces waiting times, and allows passengers to track their transaction history. Biometric authentication also enhances data security, minimizes fraud, and supports automatic fare discounts for eligible users.
Looking ahead, Hanoi Metro plans to expand the system further, standardize technical infrastructure for upcoming lines, and integrate ticketing with the national railway network.
During a site visit to the Nhon-Hanoi Railway Station line, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Danh Huy highlighted that the system not only improves operational management but also enhances convenience for passengers.
