Vietnam Airlines will launch a direct route from Hanoi to Amsterdam on June 16, 2026, with three weekly flights using Airbus A350 aircraft. This inaugural connection aims to boost tourism and trade, reducing travel time and enhancing cargo opportunities. The airline’s European network will expand to 12 routes, emphasizing strategic partnerships.
Vietnam Airlines has announced the launch of a new direct route connecting Hanoi and Amsterdam, alongside a series of market promotion and business connectivity initiatives with leading European travel partners to introduce the service and promote Vietnam as a destination.
The Hanoi-Amsterdam route is scheduled to commence on June 16, 2026, operating three round-trip flights per week using wide-body Airbus A350 aircraft. This marks the first direct air connection between Vietnam and the Netherlands, significantly reducing travel time while strengthening links with one of Europe’s key economic, logistics, and aviation hubs.

The flight schedule is designed to offer seamless travel for European passengers to Vietnam, while enabling convenient onward connections to major domestic and regional destinations, including Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc, as well as other destinations across Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and Australia.
With this addition, Vietnam Airlines will expand its direct Europe network to 12 routes, serving eight key cities: Paris, Frankfurt, London, Munich, Milan, Copenhagen, Moscow, and Amsterdam.
Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, emphasized that Europe remains a strategic market for the carrier. He noted that the launch and accompanying promotional activities in the Netherlands reflect the airline’s commitment to strengthening partnerships across the region and enhancing connectivity between Europe and Vietnam, supporting tourism, trade, and people-to-people exchanges.
The new route comes amid growing travel demand between Vietnam and the Netherlands. In 2024, two-way passenger traffic exceeded 122,000 and continued to rise in 2025, with the Hanoi-Amsterdam segment alone recording a year-on-year growth of more than 40%.
Beyond passenger travel, the direct service is also expected to unlock opportunities in air cargo, particularly for high-value Vietnamese exports such as electronics, textiles, agricultural products, and seafood. By shortening delivery times and optimizing supply chains, the route is set to enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses in the European market.
