Asia’s ‘most beautiful island’ expands flight connection to regional tourism hubs

Phu Quoc, recently named Asia’s most beautiful island, will enhance international connectivity by launching direct flights to seven Asian markets, including South Korea and India. With a significant tourism rebound, over 428,000 international visitors in early 2026, the island aims for 8.5 million visitors this year, including two million internationals.

Phu Quoc, recently voted Asia’s most beautiful island by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, is set to expand its international connectivity this year, adding direct flight routes to seven key Asian markets, including South Korea, Thailand, India, and Malaysia, amid rising tourism demand.

Vietnam’s newest carrier, Sun PhuQuoc Airways, is expected to launch its first international route linking Phu Quoc with Taipei on March 29. The airline plans to operate nine international routes connecting the island to seven markets: Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, India, and Malaysia.

The expansion reflects a strong tourism rebound for Phu Quoc. Data from Phu Quoc International Airport shows that in the first two months of 2026, the island welcomed more than 428,000 international visitors, an increase of approximately 35% compared to the same period last year.

Overall, Phu Quoc received over 2.2 million visitors during the same period, marking a year-on-year growth of 57.7%.

Looking ahead, Vietnam’s largest island aims to welcome 8.5 million visitors in 2026, including around two million international arrivals, representing increases of 5% and 11%, respectively, compared to 2025.
