Russia surpasses Cambodia to become Vietnam’s 3rd largest source of tourists

In February, Russia became Vietnam’s third-largest source of tourists, with 121,493 arrivals, up 332% year-on-year. Overall, Vietnam welcomed over 2.2 million international visitors, marking a 17.7% increase from last year despite a 9.2% decrease from January. The government’s new visa policies and tourism efforts drive growth.

Russia became Vietnam’s third-largest source of inbound tourists in February, recording 121,493 arrivals, a sharp increase of 332% compared with the same period last year.

Cambodia, which welcomed 54,205 visitors to Vietnam during the month, dropped from third to ninth place after a 75% decline from the previous month, according to data from the General Statistics Office.

Vietnam received more than 2.2 million international visitors in February. While this figure represented a 9.2% decrease compared with January, it marked a 17.7% increase year-on-year.

In total, nearly 4.7 million international travelers visited Vietnam in the first two months of the year, up 18.1% compared with the same period in 2025.

South Korea emerged as Vietnam’s largest source market, with more than 971,000 visitors, surpassing mainland China, which recorded approximately 922,000 arrivals.

Industry experts attribute the strong growth to the government’s progressive visa policies, expanded tourism promotion efforts, greater diversification of travel products, and ongoing improvements in service quality.

Vietnam welcomed 21.2 million international visitors last year and has set an ambitious target of 25 million arrivals for 2026.
