Unveiled by the Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Conservation in partnership with Vietnam Artificial Intelligence JSC, the system allows tourists to purchase tickets via automated machines that support international payment methods and print tickets on the spot. Visitors can also scan QR codes to access multilingual heritage information, suggested itineraries, and personalised experiences directly on their phones.

According to Phan Thanh Tuan, Chairman and CEO of Vietnam Artificial Intelligence JSC, the solution helps ease congestion at traditional ticket counters while improving overall service efficiency. With support for nearly 20 languages, the platform enables international travellers to explore the ancient town more seamlessly. Traditional ticket counters remain available alongside the new machines.

The initiative forms part of Vietnam’s broader digital transformation strategy, designed to modernise tourism management, elevate service quality, and better promote cultural values. Tailored to the distinctive character of the UNESCO-listed ancient town, the system integrates artificial intelligence with local cultural insights.

Following a strong tourism rebound in 2025, the introduction of smart ticketing is expected to further position Hoi An as a forward-looking yet culturally rooted destination, supporting sustainable growth while safeguarding its heritage legacy.
