Which is Asia’s fastest-growing tourist destination?

Sa Pa has been named Asia’s fastest-growing tourist destination in 2025, according to Agoda, highlighting its appeal for international travelers seeking authentic experiences. Known for its stunning landscapes and ethnic heritage, Sa Pa attracts visitors year-round and features new attractions like the Muong Hoa mountain train, enhancing its charm.

Renowned for its dramatic mountain scenery, diverse ethnic heritage, and vibrant highland markets, Sa Pa has increasingly attracted travelers seeking authentic, immersive experiences beyond major urban centers.

In Agoda’s ranking, Okayama (Japan) placed second, followed by Bandung (Indonesia), Matsuyama (Japan), and Takamatsu (Japan). “These five destinations stood out for their exceptional growth in interest from international travelers,” Agoda noted.

The ranking was based on a comparison of accommodation booking data between January-November 2025 and the same period in 2024.

“It is truly encouraging to see Sa Pa’s continued development and growing recognition among international visitors,” said Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam.

Once a summer retreat for French colonial officials, Sa Pa still bears traces of that era, from its stone church to Indochina-style resorts. In the early months of the year, the town draws visitors with its cool highland climate and seasonal blooms that soften the rugged mountain landscape.

Among Sa Pa’s newer attractions is the 2-kilometre Muong Hoa mountain train, offering sweeping panoramic views as it crosses the valley below—adding another layer to the destination’s evolving appeal.
