As the Lunar New Year approaches, travel searches reveal a clear picture of where Vietnamese travelers want to be during the year’s most important holiday. According to Agoda, interest in both domestic and international travel for Tet has risen sharply compared to last year, with domestic searches up 22 percent.
Da Lat Leads the Tet Search Rankings
Da Lat has emerged as the most searched domestic destination for the upcoming Tet holiday. Searches for the Central Highlands city rose 44 percent year on year, reflecting its enduring appeal during the festive season. With cool temperatures year round and Tet coinciding with peak flower season, Da Lat transforms into a landscape of blooming cherry blossoms and colorful hillsides, making it especially attractive for holiday getaways.
Phu Quoc Goes As A Second Place
Vietnam’s largest island, Phu Quoc, claimed the second spot, overtaking Nha Trang with a 41 percent increase in searches. Agoda data from October and November 2025 for check ins between February 14 and 22 shows strong interest in the island’s beach driven appeal. With the dry season running from November to April, Phu Quoc offers sunny skies and ideal conditions for outdoor and seaside activities during Tet.
Familiar Favorites Remain Strong
Nha Trang ranked third, followed by Da Nang and Vung Tau, now part of Ho Chi Minh City. These destinations continue to attract travelers seeking a mix of beaches, urban energy, and short holiday escapes during the nine day Tet break.
A Growing Appetite for Tet Travel
Agoda notes that overall travel interest during the Lunar New Year period is higher than last year, signaling a strong rebound in holiday mobility. As the Year of the Horse begins on February 17, Vietnamese travelers are increasingly prioritizing destinations that offer either cool climates and seasonal beauty or reliable sunshine and relaxation.
From flower filled highlands to sun soaked islands, Tet 2026 is shaping up to be a season defined by nature, comfort, and the joy of starting the new year somewhere memorable.
