Mui Ne Beach Named Southeast Asia’s Top Watersports Destination

A Rising Star on Vietnam’s Coastline

Mui Ne Beach in Lam Dong Province has been recognized by National Geographic Traveler as one of Southeast Asia’s leading “top watersports destinations,” joining the region’s most attractive locations for adventure tourism. Located 22 km northeast of Phan Thiet, Mui Ne is celebrated as Vietnam’s “resort capital,” where sweeping sand dunes meet deep blue waters in a rare coastal landscape.

Winds That Shape a World-Class Playground

The magazine highlights Mui Ne’s greatest natural advantage: its exceptional wind conditions. The region enjoys strong, steady winds for around 260 days a year, making it a premier location for kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing, and other high-adrenaline activities. With a sheltered bay and a tropical climate, Mui Ne is also less affected by storms compared to other coastal destinations in Southeast Asia.

From Adventure Haven to National Tourism Hub

Beyond its wind and waves, Mui Ne offers developed beachfront resorts, scenic landscapes, and year-round sunshine – drawing families, honeymooners, and global watersports enthusiasts alike. Recognizing its growing international appeal, Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has designated Mui Ne a national tourist site, positioning it as a future tourism hub in both the south-central region and the Asia-Pacific.

Ambitions for Global Growth

Lam Dong Province aims to welcome 9 million visitors by 2025, including 1.5 million international travelers, with projections rising to 14 million tourists by 2030. With natural conditions that are difficult to replicate and expanding tourism investment, Mui Ne is poised to become one of Asia’s most dynamic centers for coastal recreation and water-based sports.
