Phu Quoc Named One of the World’s Top Trending Destinations for 2026

A tropical island in Vietnam has just risen to the global spotlight

Skyscanner has officially released its Trending Destinations 2026 report, and Phu Quoc secured second place worldwide with a remarkable 184% increase in flight searches compared to last year. It is the only Vietnamese destination to appear on the list.

A Global Travel Barometer

Each year, Skyscanner analyzes millions of flight, hotel, and car rental searches across more than 30 languages, generating insights that act as a global barometer of emerging travel interests. With over 100 million monthly visits, the platform’s annual list is seen as a key indicator of destinations gaining momentum on the world tourism map.

In 2026, Phu Quoc stands out for its surge in international attention. The island’s rising visibility is supported by new developments, improved infrastructure, and tourism-friendly policies. Notably, Phu Quoc remains the only place in Vietnam offering 30 days of visa-free entry for all international travelers. Around 30 international flights operate daily, connecting the island to an expanding list of countries. In the first nine months of 2025 alone, Phu Quoc welcomed over 1.2 million international visitors, surpassing the entire total for 2024.

A Rising Star of Southeast Asia

Skyscanner describes Phu Quoc as “an idyllic escape close to Singapore,” inviting travelers to enjoy its world-famous fish sauce and fresh seafood, along with pristine beaches like Bai Kem and Bai Sao, considered among the most beautiful in the world. The report highlights Phu Quoc alongside other emerging destinations that are “turning heads and climbing charts.”

Beyond its natural beauty, Phu Quoc’s entertainment scene continues to evolve. Travelers today seek more than sun and sea; they want vibrant atmospheres, cultural depth, and one-of-a-kind experiences. Phu Quoc meets this shift with offerings such as the world’s longest three-cable car to Hon Thom Island, the Guinness World Record-holding show Kiss of the Sea, the CNN-praised Kiss Bridge, and nightly fireworks at Sunset Town.

From November 1, southern Phu Quoc will introduce Sunset Bazaar, a new culinary street featuring global dining brands, including Vietnam’s first Eric Kayser bakery. The upgraded Symphony of the Sea – Season 2 will also debut with elevated lighting, lasers, fireworks, and extreme sports performances by world champion jetski and flyboard artists.

Rising Recognition and Global Appeal

The island’s popularity has been reinforced by a series of prestigious international accolades. Phu Quoc was recently named Asia’s Most Beautiful Island and ranked among the world’s top three by Condé Nast Traveler. Expedia additionally listed it among the four most attractive destinations worldwide.

As the festive season approaches, Phu Quoc is expected to welcome a surge of international visitors drawn by its blend of tropical landscapes, world-class entertainment, and global hospitality. More than ever, the island is poised to surpass long-established names like Phuket and Bali, emerging as a new icon of Southeast Asian travel.

Phu Quoc’s story reflects today’s evolving travel spirit. It is not only about sand and waves but about the thrills, stories, and unforgettable memories far beyond the tan lines that modern travelers seek.
