Tuyen Quang Strengthens Its Position on Vietnam’s Tourism Map

The tourism sector of Tuyen Quang Province has recorded remarkable growth in the first nine months of 2025, establishing a solid foundation for the province to emerge as one of the most promising destinations in Vietnam’s Northeastern region.

Tourism Momentum Following Administrative Consolidation

Following its administrative consolidation, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang Province swiftly implemented a series of strategic measures to enhance management efficiency and promote local tourism. These included the establishment of the Organizing Committee for Major Provincial Celebrations, the promulgation of updated administrative procedures, and the execution of national cultural development programs such as Decision No. 1687/QD-TTg (December 30, 2024) on developing community libraries in mountainous and border areas through 2030, with a vision toward 2045.

Throughout 2025, the province successfully hosted a number of major cultural and tourism events, including celebrations marking the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, the 1st Tuyen Quang Patriotic Emulation Congress (2025–2030), the Thanh Tuyen Festival 2025, and the art program “Returning to the Source – Towards the Future.”
These well-orchestrated events attracted large public participation, fostered a vibrant cultural atmosphere, and effectively promoted the image of Tuyen Quang as a dynamic, friendly, and culturally distinctive destination.

In preparation for the 2026 UNESCO Global Geopark re-evaluation, the province has also been actively completing dossiers, upgrading infrastructure, and strengthening conservation efforts to maintain the prestigious title of the Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark, while enhancing its geological, ecological, and community tourism values.

Heritage Conservation and Sustainable Development

A key milestone was reached with Prime Ministerial Decision No. 763/QD-TTg (April 15, 2025) approving the planning task for conservation and restoration of the Na Hang –Lam Binh Special National Scenic Site. This serves as an important legal and strategic basis for mobilizing investment, developing eco-tourism infrastructure, and positioning Na Hang – Lam Binh as the “Green Jewel” of Northern Vietnam’s tourism landscape.

In collaboration with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and Helvetas Vietnam, Tuyen Quang also launched a restoration and development project for Lung Hau Cultural Tourism Village (Lung Tam Commune) – a significant step toward preserving Mong ethnic cultural heritage and fostering community-based tourism under the brand “Highland Cultural Experience.”

Robust Growth and Visitor Influx

Thanks to strong provincial leadership and close coordination across sectors, Tuyen Quang’s tourism industry has shown clear signs of robust recovery and growth.

In September 2025 alone, the province welcomed over 323,000 visitors, including 35,000 international arrivals, generating estimated tourism revenue of VND 860 billion. For the first nine months of the year, 2.97 million visitors were recorded, reaching 82.8% of the annual plan, with total expenditure exceeding VND 8 trillion.

Major attractions such as the Na Hang – Lam Binh Nature Reserve, Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark, My Lam Mineral Springs, and Tan Trao Historical Site continue to draw large numbers of visitors.
Community-based tourism, particularly in villages such as Hoang Su Phi, Thong Nguyen, Lung Cu, and Thuong Lam, is thriving, offering authentic experiences through traditional crafts, ethnic culture, and farm-based tourism.

New tourism products have also emerged, reflecting strong local identity – from highland agricultural experiences to culinary tourism featuring specialties such as Thuận Hòa young rice, Shan Tuyet tea, and Dong Van honey.

Global Recognition and Awards

October 2025 marked a significant breakthrough as Tuyen Quang’s destinations gained international acclaim.

The UNESCO Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark was honored by the World Travel Awards (WTA) as “Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination 2025,” while Panhou Retreat Thong Nguyen received the title “Asia’s Leading Green Resort 2025.”
These accolades highlight the province’s success in balancing cultural preservation with sustainable development, serving as a powerful endorsement of Tuyen Quang’s growing international reputation.

Most notably, on October 17, 2025, the UN Tourism Organization recognized Lo Lo Chai Village (Lung Cu Commune, Tuyen Quang Province) as one of the “Best Tourism Villages in the World 2025” at a ceremony in Huzhou, Zhejiang (China).

The recognition, based on stringent criteria regarding nature conservation, cultural integrity, and community development, affirms Tuyen Quang’s commitment to sustainable, community-led tourism and elevates the province’s profile as a welcoming and distinctive destination.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Ngoc, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism:

“Receiving two consecutive international awards is a strong testament to Tuyen Quang’s strategic direction in promoting green tourism and integrating economic growth with cultural and ecological conservation. This momentum will further encourage the province to invest in its unique tourism potential.”

Outlook: Toward a Sustainable Future

Building on its achievements and international recognition, Tuyen Quang is confidently asserting its position as a rising star in Northern Vietnam’s tourism landscape.

In the coming period, the province aims to enhance digital transformation in tourism promotion, improve product quality and management standards, and strengthen regional linkages.
Key upcoming initiatives include organizing the 2025 Vietnam – China International Trade Fair, promoting OCOP – certified local products, and preparing for the 11th Buckwheat Flower Festival in 2026 – promising to further affirm Tuyen Quang’s image as a sustainable, inspiring, and culturally rich destination.
