Fireworks light up Bãi Cháy: the new summer highlight for Quảng Ninh tourism

From July to September 2025, tourists travelling to Quảng Ninh will be able to enjoy vibrant fireworks displays, one of the city’s newest weekly summer event. With over 1,000 fireworks and 50 special effects lighting up the sky, the show transformed Sun Carnival Square into a festive hub, proving the area’s growing capacity to host large-scale tourism experiences.

On the evenings of July 11–12, thousands of residents and tourists flocked to the beach at Sun Carnival Square, Bãi Cháy, Quảng Ninh to witness a vibrant fireworks display. This marked the first show since the fireworks launch site was relocated to the beach near Sun Elite City, drawing large crowds and turning the area into a festive hub.

Exactly at 9:30 PM, more than 1,000 fireworks lit up the sky with over 50 unique effects, reflected beautifully across the waters of Hạ Long Bay. Visitors cheered as bursts of colour illuminated a lighthouse-shaped installation along the bay, with many describing Sun Elite City as a “spectacular open-air light stage set in a world heritage site.”

Along the beachfront, visitors enjoyed lively street performances, interactive games, and over 30 food and souvenir stalls from the Vui-Fest night market. The atmosphere transformed Bãi Cháy into one of the busiest night spots in the area.

Locals and tourists expressed their excitement, with one local resident remarking that such displays used to be reserved for major holidays. “Now, we can enjoy this every weekend—right at the beach near home.” Visitors from cities like Hải Phòng and Hà Nội likened the experience to a mini New Year’s Eve celebration, praising the scale and immersive effects of the show.

Following a trial period, the organisers announced an expansion of the programme. Starting the week of July 15, fireworks will be held three times a week: every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 21:30, continuing through to September 2, 2025. Each 15-minute display will include 2,100 low-altitude and 1,000 high-altitude fireworks, choreographed to upbeat music. The schedule may be adjusted depending on weather conditions to ensure the best experience.

The relocation and frequency upgrade aim to optimise viewing angles, create stronger community engagement, and fully leverage Sun Group’s entertainment and hospitality ecosystem in Bãi Cháy. With quality infrastructure, convenient parking, and a growing calendar of cultural events, Sun Carnival Square is fast becoming a weekend destination for both domestic and international visitors.

Fireworks can also be viewed from luxury dinner cruises at the nearby Hạ Long International Cruise Port, offering guests a premium perspective on this new tourism spectacle.
