Vietnam, 27 June 2025 – Phú Quốc is taking bold steps to raise its profile ahead of APEC 2027, when the island will host one of the most important diplomatic events in the Asia-Pacific region. As the venue for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, Phú Quốc is positioning itself not only as a scenic destination, but also as a symbol of Vietnam’s growing capability to host international-scale events.
In response to this opportunity, authorities in Kiên Giang Province have launched a comprehensive campaign to enhance tourism readiness. From improving urban aesthetics and environmental hygiene to upgrading service quality across accommodations and attractions, the effort reflects a shared commitment between government agencies and the private sector. Community involvement is also key, as the island aims to create a hospitable, well-managed environment that reflects national hospitality values at an international standard.

These preparations are grounded in the island’s strong performance in the first half of 2025. Phú Quốc welcomed approximately 4.4 million visitors, including nearly 882,000 international arrivals. Tourism revenue reached over VND 21.6 trillion (roughly USD 828 million), a 93% increase year-on-year. These numbers underscore the island’s momentum as a tourism leader in southern Vietnam and reaffirm its appeal to both domestic and foreign travelers.

Beyond its white-sand beaches and clear waters, Phú Quốc continues to expand its tourism offerings. The development of entertainment and cultural attractions like Phú Quốc Safari, Hon Thom cable car, and a growing number of eco-friendly resorts are contributing to a diversified visitor experience. These investments not only serve short-term tourism needs but also support the island’s long-term goal of becoming a center for high-end tourism and international gatherings.
With APEC 2027 on the horizon, Phú Quốc is expected to attract increased attention from global investors in sectors ranging from luxury hospitality to wellness tourism and sustainable infrastructure. Local authorities are also emphasizing smart tourism solutions and environmental responsibility as guiding principles for future growth.
