Six Senses Côn Đảo Celebrates Milestone: 30,000 Baby Turtles Released into the Sea

Vietnam, 12 June 2025 – Six Senses Côn Đảo has marked a meaningful conservation milestone: successfully releasing over 30,000 baby sea turtles back into the ocean since its founding. Located in one of Vietnam’s most ecologically rich archipelagos, the resort has long been recognized not only for its sustainable luxury but also for its commitment to protecting marine biodiversity.

This figure reflects the outcomes of the resort’s long-term collaboration with the Côn Đảo National Park authorities, especially in safeguarding green turtle (Chelonia mydas) nesting grounds. Supporting monitored hatching areas and educating guests on local marine life have been central to the program, turning each visit into a deeper exploration of Vietnam’s natural heritage.

At the heart of these efforts is a dedicated turtle incubation center built directly on the resort’s private beachfront. This space, thoughtfully integrated into the surrounding landscape, provides a protected environment for eggs relocated from vulnerable nesting sites across the archipelago. Designed to mirror natural conditions while improving hatch success, the facility has become both a conservation tool and a quiet symbol of purpose-driven hospitality.

Each year, guests have the chance to witness hatching events during turtle nesting season. These experiences, grounded in education and ethics, have become a signature part of the resort’s identity, allowing travelers to participate in the rare and moving moment of a baby turtle’s first journey to the sea.

As coastal destinations across Vietnam continue to grow, Six Senses Côn Đảo’s conservation initiative stands out as a model of how hospitality can give back quietly but meaningfully, serving as a practical example of how environmental priorities can be embedded within destination management.
