Celebrate festive season with the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2024: An exciting lineup of festivals!

The 4th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week is scheduled to take place from the 5th to the 12th December 2024, featuring over 80 activities and festivals spread across the city The event highlights community spirit and inter-sectoral collaboration, bringing together departments, districts, and residents to showcase the city as a vibrant, modern, and unique year-end destination.

On the afternoon of the 29th November 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center held a press conference to inform about activities at the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 4 of the year 2024 with the theme ‘Lively festival season’.

After 03 times of organization, the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week in 2024 has gradually formed an annual traditional activity of the tourism industry, creating opportunities for the City’s tourism businesses to introduce products or services and stimulating domestic and international tourism during the year-end holiday season.

Ms. Nguyen Cam Tu – Director of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center shared information about the activities that will take place at Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2024.

The Launching Ceremony was held on the morning of the 5th December at the small island area in front of the Ben Thanh Market relic gate. Besides from the 5th to the 8th December, there will be variety of activities happen such as electric car and bicycle parade, tourism exhibition, traditional – cultural – entertainment activities. These events are designed to celebrate the city’s iconic landmark and promote the rich cultural heritage of Ho Chi Minh City.

The 4th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2024 was ceremoniously launched at the iconic Ben Thanh Market.
AR space promotes information about tourism – culture – music – art through AR quiz games about culture, tourism, history and geography of Ho Chi Minh City.

Several cultural, artistic, and culinary events and workshops will be organized throughout the city this month, creating a bustling festive atmosphere.
According to Ms.Tu – Director of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center, these activities are organized to promote new destinations, tour programs, and unique tourism products of Thu Duc City and each district.

A new highlight of this year’s program is the integration of AR (Augmented Reality) technology into the Tourism Week activities, aiming to engage the youth and tech-savvy community through AR trivia games related to Ho Chi Minh City’s culture, tourism, history, and geography. The game will be held at check-in points of Tourism Week in Thu Duc City city and 21 districts. Therefore, participants will be able to learn about the culture, tourism, history, and geography of each district through a vivid, fun, and easy-to-understand approach.

Alongside, a series of large-scale events took place in Ho Chi Minh City, including:

  • The 2024 World Teqball Championship took place from the 4th December to the 8th December at Nguyen Hue Street – Lam Son Park – Bach Dang Ben Parkz.
  • Cho Lon Food Story Festival took place from the 6th December to the 8th December at District 5 Cultural and Sports Center.
  • International super music festival 8WONDER Winter 2024 took place on the 8th December.
  • Shopping Season 2024 program with the promotion up to 80% is organized by the Department of Industry and Trade. The program divides into 2 phrases at different locations:
    – Phase 1 (18th – 25th December): Uninon Square Shopping Center and Menas Mall Shopping Center.
    – Phase 2 (27th December – 1st January 2025): GigaMall Shopping Center, SC Vivo City Shopping Center and Vincom Dong Khoi Shopping Center.
The Program “Designing Tourism Tours” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification:

This contest aims to inspire creative ideas that can elevate the quality of tourism services, attract more visitors, and contribute to the economic growth of the city. By encouraging collaboration between tourism businesses and historical sites, the competition seeks to develop unique and engaging tour packages that highlight the city’s rich history and culture.

The 7th Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon Techcombank 2024:

The 7th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon, jointly organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, Department of Culture and Sports, and Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation, with the strategic sponsorship of Techcombank, was a cornerstone of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2024. The event was inspired by the message “Running for a Superior Vietnam” and was held from the 6th to the 8th December.

Anticipated to attract over 17,000 domestic and international athletes, the 7th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon continued to solidify its position as Vietnam’s largest marathon event with several highlights. Kicking off the event week, Mass Participation World Conference was held from the 5th to the 7th December, bringing together global experts and guests to discuss the latest trends in mass participation sports. This conference further solidified Ho Chi Minh City’s position as a global sports tourism destination.

More 18,000 participants joined the race at dawn on 8th December 2024.

For the first time, the Marathon Village and Kids RUN were held at The Global City complex, a modern integrated urban area. Athletes embarked on a journey to discover a vibrant and dynamic Ho Chi Minh City as they ran through 17 historical and cultural landmarks, starting from Le Duan Street in District 1 and finishing at Empire City.

This year’s Tourism Week continues to be accompanied by Tourism Week ambassadors – prominent individuals in many fields, promoting the city’s tourism.

“The programs during Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week not only honor the beauty of the city in a festive atmosphere but also emphasize the combination of tradition, modernity and sustainable development. At the same time, it aims to stimulate domestic and international tourism, contributing to the growth of Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism industry at the end of the year,” said a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center.
