In Perth, Australia, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), met with Tourism Western Australia, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), and Australian tourism businesses on June 19, 2024.
Present at the meet and greet were leaders from VNAT’s units, the Consul General of Vietnam in Perth, and the Vietnam business delegation. Representing Australia were Mr. Michael Millimaci, Eastern Markets Manager (South East Asia) from Tourism Western Australia, delegates from Austrade, Perth Airport, West Australia – Vietnam Business Council (WAVBC), The West Australian Technical and Vocational Education and Training (WATVET), as well as Australian tourism companies such as Kings Tours, OrYo Adventures, Australian Pinnacle Tours, Ryan, Two Feet and a Heartbeat, QT Hotels, and others.

Addressing the event, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh said, Perth is a beautiful city in Australia with a lot of tourism potential. “With this networking event, the stakeholders from both sides can become acquainted and work together to develop appealing products for travelers between Perth and Vietnam”.
Also, VNAT proposed Tourism Western Australia research the trends and preferences of Vietnamese tourists to design attractive experiences and connect with nearby destinations to offer inclusive tour programs to stimulate tourism demand, especially since Perth is a new destination for Vietnamese visitors. At the networking event, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh is looking forward to welcoming Tourism Western Australia and their businesses to visit Vietnam and promote mutual tourism exchanges in the near future.

On the same day, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh had a bilateral meeting with the West Australian Technical, Vocational Education and Training (WATVET) and Perth Airport. The two sides discussed online training courses, human resource development, and promoting cooperation with travel and aviation businesses.
WATVET’s President Brian Walsh discussed the results of the online Micro-Certificate Training Course on sustainable tourism. WATVET proposes to continue implementing the course next year and expand cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese tourism training establishments. Appreciating the significance of the course, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh suggested that WATVET needs to link and cooperate with tourism training institutions in Vietnam, such as Hanoi Tourism College – a training institution specializing in the tourism field.

At the meeting with Vice President Market Development, Perth Airport – Ms. Rei Seah, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh said, Australia is one of the important source markets of Vietnamese tourism, and hoped that in the near future, there will be more flights from Australia connecting to Vietnamese destinations. Both sides need to promote stimulation and connect tourism and aviation businesses. He informed that this September VNAT will organize a Roadshow to promote Vietnam tourism in Australia and suggested that Perth Airport invite partners and customers to attend the event.
From June 16 to 21, 2024, in Australia, the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism participated in the Vietnam-Australia Travel Symposium and engaged in a series of bilateral contacts and meetings with partners aimed at enhancing cooperation for tourism development promotion.
